Safeguarding

We moved to the area mid-year and were really impressed with how the school team supported our two children to fit in.

The school’s warm and nurturing atmosphere enables each child to develop confidence in their own individual voice/identity.

All of the adults in school are here to help and to listen. If you need to talk to anyone, we have a safeguarding team who are fully trained.

Safeguarding means:

  • protecting children from abuse and maltreatment
  • preventing harm to children’s health or development
  • ensuring children grow up with the provision of safe and effective care
  • taking action to enable all children and young people to have the best outcomes.

Safeguarding children and child protection and legislation applies to all children up to the age of 18.

The children participate in workshops with the NSPCC to help them understand how to stay safe from harm and so that they know what to do if they are unsafe and are taught about how to stay safe through our PHSE and Computing curriculum.

Keeping Children Safe in Education

At this school, we abide by the statutory guidance from the Government which sets out what schools must do to keep children safe. Each member of staff is expected to read and agree to the guidance and this forms part of our staff induction process. For the Government’s guidance click here.

Prevent Duty

All staff are aware of the Prevent Duty and have had training in what to do if they have concerns that a child is at risk of radicalisation. This is in line with stator guidance from the Government. A register is held to show that staff have participated in this training. To read the guidance from the Government click here.

Online Safety

Children are taught how to stay safe online as part of our Computing scheme of work. We also recognise Online Safety Day in February and often welcome visitors into school to help children develop strategies to keep themselves safe. Please see our online safety policy for more information.
