We moved to the area mid-year and were really impressed with how the school team supported our two children to fit in.

The school’s warm and nurturing atmosphere enables each child to develop confidence in their own individual voice/identity.

Each classroom is set up to ensure opportunities for learning are as effective as possible. Our outdoor learning environment is extensive and it is well utilised to support learning, for example, our Forest Schools area.

At the beginning of the year, the children, teachers and teaching assistants agree on a class contract which ensures that everyone involved works hard to create the best possible learning environment.

Children are given opportunities to experience and discuss their learning which results in a healthy and productive ‘buzz’ across the school.

As well as this, the physical learning environment is used to celebrate the children’s learning and provide support and stimulus to the children in their learning. The physical learning environment might include display boards and tables, reflection areas and the outdoor learning space.

We encourage the children to make full use of the outdoor learning areas around the school. We have a woodland walk area, spiritual garden and well as extensive outdoor grounds which are used all year round for play, physical education and other learning opportunities.

Our aims

  • Create a learning environment that stimulates learning and discussion
  • Celebrate achievement and raise self-esteem for all
  • Encourage pupils to have pride and confidence in their work and their learning environment
  • Use display and resources to impact positively on learning through consolidation of previous learning and introducing new knowledge
