We moved to the area mid-year and were really impressed with how the school team supported our two children to fit in.

The school’s warm and nurturing atmosphere enables each child to develop confidence in their own individual voice/identity.

It is our aim that all children feel happy and confident in their learning. We use a variety of teaching styles to ensure that all children are challenged and make excellent progress.

Alongside strong teaching, we aim for children to learn through exploration and discovery, asking questions and finding things out. We want to develop enquiring minds and to ensure that children leave the school with a lifelong love of learning.

In Reception we follow the statutory Early Years Foundation Stage framework which sets standards for the learning, development and care of children up to the age of 5.

The National Curriculum sets out the statutory areas that must be taught to Key Stages 1 and 2. We tailor this to ensure the needs of the children are met and so that we can utilise our local area.

Children also learn about other religions through Religious Education. This is taught using the agreed syllabus for South Gloucestershire.

We encourage the children to make full use of the outdoor learning areas around the school. We have a woodland walk area, spiritual garden as well as extensive outdoor grounds which are used all year round for play, physical education and other learning opportunities.

We believe that learning outside of the classroom is essential both inside and outside of the school grounds. The children often have opportunities to take part in educational trips and visits around the local area and beyond.

During their time in Key Stage 2 children have the opportunity to attend a residential trip to an activity centre. This is another fantastic opportunity for children to take part in new experiences and develop important skills of independence and problem solving.
